9. Noble Edward (Ferrell)3 Farrell (John Edward (Ferrell)2, William (Ferril)1) was born in Bushwood, MD 1810. Noble died 1896 in Bushwood, MD, at 86 years of age. Noble is buried in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church cemetary in an unmarked grave.

He married Maria L Joy in Bushwood, MD, April 17, 1851. Their first child (James) was born in 1844; George (N) born in 1848; Julia Ann was born in 1848; Mary J was born in 1850; Ellen was born in 1851; therefore, five children were born before the April 17, 1851 marriage license of Noble and Maria. The St Mary's County Historical Society provided some genealogy donated by George and Goldie Hayden which says that Noble first married a Maria and then married Mary Joy. There is no marriage record prior to 1851 and with the sameness of the names treats them as the same person but there is the possibility that there were two wives and Maria died in childbirth with Ellen.

Maria was born in Maryland 1822. Maria was the daughter of James Joy and Julia Alvey. At 22 years of age Maria became the mother of James Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1844. At 26 years of age Maria became the mother of George N Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1848. At 27 years of age Maria became the mother of Julia A. Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1849. At 29 years of age Maria became the mother of Mary Jane Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1851. At 29 years of age Maria became the mother of Sally Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1851. At 30 years of age Maria became the mother of Nobel Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1852. At 33 years of age Maria became the mother of Peter Henry Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1855. At 37 years of age Maria became the mother of Margaret Cora Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1859. At 41 years of age Maria became the mother of Charles Garner Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1863. At 42 years of age Maria became the mother of Louis Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1864. She made a will May 14, 1875. Maria left everything she owned, including the property she was living on which she bought from Noble for $500 plus interest to her children, James, Charles and Louise. R. Johnson Colton was named executor.

At 34 years of age Noble became the father of James Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1844. At 38 years of age Noble became the father of George N Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1848. At 39 years of age Noble became the father of Julia A. Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1849. At 41 years of age Noble became the father of Mary Jane Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1851. At 53 years of age Noble became the father of Charles Garner Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1863. At 54 years of age Noble became the father of Louis Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1864. Noble and Maria could not read or write; therefore, there is very little family information. At the time of 1850 census, their record was written by a person who identified him as Edward N Ferrell, rather than Noble Edward Farrell. Second cousin, Gary Lewis, has provided most of the Farrell history. He has researched the MD State Archives and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church records. There are no records of who is buried in their cemetary in this era (many records were destroyed in fires). There are no tombstones for Noble or Maria, and their grave locations are not certain. Noble's brother, James, gave some of his children the same names as Noble and Maria. The records cross reference between families, and are very confusing.

Noble has an infamous history. Third cousin, Linda Reno, has found he was charged with i) the murder of Benedict Garner on December 22, 1834 (assume he was acquitted), ii) stealing a hog from James Owens on September 15, 1841, and iii) assault and battery against James Farrell (his brother) on February 26, 1842. Uncle Lenze tells a story that Noble was part Irish and part American Indian and liked to drink and gamble, losing much of whatever wealth the family had at the time. This story has not been confirmed, or refuted.
