4. Joseph E.2 Russell (Joseph A.1) was born in Bushwood, MD 1840. Joseph died 1862/65 at 23 years of age.

He married Ann Lucinda Cheseldine in Bushwood, MD, February 12, 1860. Ann was born in Bushwood, MD 1842. Ann was the daughter of John Cheseldine6 and Julia Ann Cullison. Ann died April, 1861 in Bushwood, MD, at 18 years of age. Died in child birth of Mary Delvania Russell

At 18 years of age Ann became the mother of Mary Delvenia Russell in Milestown, MD, April, 1861.

At 20 years of age Joseph became the father of Mary Delvenia Russell in Milestown, MD, April, 1861. Joseph enlisted in Union Army in May 27, 1861 at the age of twenty-one (21). He is recorded to have been in the 1st Regiment Infantry of the MD Volunteers Company G of the Union Army. Records indicate he deserted January 23, 1862. In the History of St Mary's County by Regina Combs Hammett, there is a Joseph Russell from St Mary's County listed in the Confederate Army. It is not certain that these are the same person; however, St Mary Countians were mostly sympathetic to the Confederate cause.

Joseph E. Russell and Ann Lucinda Cheseldine had the following child:

child 13 i. Mary Delvenia3 Russell was born in Milestown, MD April, 1861. Mary died March 15, 1949 in Rodger Heights, MD (PG County), at 87 years of age. Her body was interred 1949 in Colmer Manor, MD, Fort Lincoln Cemetary. She married George N Farrell in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD, December 6, 1880. George was born in Bushwood, MD 1848. George was the son of Noble Edward (Ferrell) Farrell and Maria L Joy. George died September 26, 1934 in Texas, MD (Baltimore County), at 86 years of age. According to George's death certificate, his occupation was a farm hand. The cause of death was arthritis. He was living in a bunk house with other farm hands. His sons retrieved his body from Baltimore County and took him to the Sacred Heart Church cemetary and buried him there. They considered a tombstone but decided not to have one. Information provided by second cousin, Gary Lewis, grandson of George's daughter, Grace Farrell Jackson.

His body was interred 1934 in Bushwood, MD (St Mary's County), Sacred Heart Catholic Church. At 33 years of age George became the father of George Lancaster Farrell May, 1882. At 34 years of age George became the father of Joseph Haverland Farrell September 27, 1882. At 35 years of age George became the father of Walter Lee Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1883. At 38 years of age George became the father of Albertia Bernice Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1886. At 40 years of age George became the father of Mary Blanch Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1888. At 40 years of age George became the father of Katherine May Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1888. At 42 years of age George became the father of James Lenzie Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1890. At 47 years of age George became the father of Madeline Vergie Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1895. At 51 years of age George became the father of Grace Gertrude Farrell in Bushwood, MD, October 27, 1899. At 53 years of age George became the father of James Aubrey Farrell in Mechanicsville, MD, March 7, 1902. At 55 years of age George became the father of Robert Plowden Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1903. Mary was separated from her husband, an unknown person in Newberg, MD, unknown. According to Cousin Gary Lewis, after Robert Plowden was born in 1903, George and Mary took the children and moved to Charles County, near Newberg, MD. Sometime later they separated. The cause for their separation is unknown. From that time forward, Mary and her children lived in Charles County, Washington, DC, and Prince Georges County.

At 21 years of age Mary became the mother of George Lancaster Farrell May, 1882. At 21 years of age Mary became the mother of Joseph Haverland Farrell September 27, 1882. At 22 years of age Mary became the mother of Walter Lee Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1883. At 25 years of age Mary became the mother of Albertia Bernice Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1886. At 27 years of age Mary became the mother of Mary Blanch Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1888. At 27 years of age Mary became the mother of Katherine May Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1888. At 29 years of age Mary became the mother of James Lenzie Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1890. At 34 years of age Mary became the mother of Madeline Vergie Farrell in Bushwood, MD, 1895. At 38 years of age Mary became the mother of Grace Gertrude Farrell in Bushwood, MD, October 27, 1899. At 40 years of age Mary became the mother of James Aubrey Farrell in Mechanicsville, MD, March 7, 1902. At 42 years of age Mary became the mother of Robert Plowden Farrell in Milestown, MD, 1903. Mary's mother died in child birth. She was raised by her father's parents (Joseph and Jane) because her father fought and died in the civil war. At time of 1880 census, was living with Charles F. and Mary Quade. Mary Pilkerton Quade was believed to be an Aunt.
